Napravnick, Eduard

Eduard Napravnik(1839-1916), Czech/Russian conductor, born in Bohemia, studied organ at the Prague Organ School, later taught there. In 1861, he was invited to Russia to conduct the private orchestra of Prince Yusupov in St. Petersburg, later became the principal conductor of the Imperial Mariinsky Theater. He premiered several works of Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
