Nielsen, Carl

Carl(August) Nielsen(1865-1931), Danish composer, studied at Royal College in Copenhagen, then continued to study in Germany with Wagner. Returned to Copenhagen, he conducted the Royal Theater of Denmark, appointed as the director of the Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen and from 1915 to 1927 he was head of the Music Society in Copenhagen. He composed 2 operas, 6 symphonies, concertos(violin, flute), and chamber music.
